As part of the ongoing Master Plan Design, conceptual aesthetics for eight bridges will be considered. All designs will be based on Norman culture and aesthetics. For Construction Phase 1, aesthetics for two of the bridges are finalized.
Rock Creek Road Bridge illustrates the City of Norman's active industries in both breeding quarter horses and crafting saddles. Herds of quarter horses, which excel at running short distances, can be seen majestically running across the length of the parapet. The wing walls and pier columns are strapped with a weave pattern representing the pressed leather of horse saddles. These areas will be stained to imitate handcrafted leather
