A map of the City of Rockville is on ground level so that a pedestrian may stand above it and orient himself or herself with the Rockville area. The map is engraved with the city's streets and parks, and inlaid brass strips represent the major highways. The polished surface of the map was accomplished by sandblasting. Three different textures were used to vary the surface: flamed, sandblasted, and honed.
