PROJECT INFO

This urban environment incorporates mosaic, FŌTERA® concrete terrazzo, steel, and engraved brick into a public art piece covering over two miles of sidewalk, connecting the Largo Town Center and the Morgan Boulevard Metro stations. 30 FŌTERA® concrete terrazzo murals, representative of Maryland, are set into the sidewalk with brick pavers engraved with poetry, quotations, and factual references spiraling out from each icon. Two mosaic walls, one that highlights the local historic figure Garrett Morgan and one that includes a 20′ compass rosette mosaic in front of it, both fabricated by Cheryl Foster, complete the design. As commuters traverse between stations, they read the passages and view the colorful mosaics and FŌTERA® concrete terrazzo icons.
