PROJECT INFO

The 23rd Street Parkway Bridge, which marks the entranceway between Washington, DC and Prince George’s County, celebrates the White Oak, the State Tree of Maryland. This striking vehicular and pedestrian bridge includes two 150′ cast-in-place parapet walls and two 6′ cast-in-place concrete columns. These columns, featuring the leaf of the White Oak in 2″ raised relief, are capped with White Oak acorns of heroic size. The interior faces of the parapet walls were created using simulated-stone form liners. A continuous leaf detailing runs along the top edge of the parapet.
